Driving / Recommendations

Handling and performance

The Volkswagen Id.Buzz in its urban version is a real pleasure to drive, primarily thanks to the quietness of its electric motor and excellent soundproofing. You’re immediately immersed in a Zen-like atmosphere. The comfortable seats and the nine speakers of the infotainment package make you want to keep going while enjoying your favorite music. The wide visibility and the “TGV”-style cockpit further enhance the driving comfort. The reversing assistance and turning radius, comparable to the smallest cars in its segment, allow it to maneuver with ease. The regenerative braking system, managed by the electric motor, is very effective and uses very little, if any (B mode), traditional braking, thus significantly reducing emissions. The extraordinary torque of the electric drive is worthy of the best GTIs among our classic cars.

Refills:

To recharge the Id.Buzz you will find charging stations

  • fast (>150kW DC) or
  • standard in 22kW AC.

At a fast charging station, a full charge takes half an hour, compared to several hours for a standard charge.
The cost also differs, ranging from approximately 20 cents to 80 cents per kWh.
For comparison, a gasoline-powered car consuming 7 liters per 100 km will cost around €14 per 100 km, and
an electric Buzz consuming 20 kWh per 100 km will cost on average €8 per 100 km.
Volkswagen’s in-car app allows you to plan your journey and shows you charging stations and their prices.
That’s why it’s a good idea to dedicate some time to planning your trip, perhaps even using third-party apps like https://fr.chargemap.com, which will show you where to find the best rates.
Furthermore, charging time is another important factor to consider when choosing charging points. It’s a compromise between charging time and charging cost.

Payment of charges

Payment at charging stations is generally made with operator cards, and it’s not guaranteed that your credit card will be accepted (you’ll likely need to install an app on your smartphone and link your payment method).
To simplify charging, your Buzz des Villes ID comes with operator cards like “chargemap” (https://fr.chargemap.com/) which will allow you to charge your vehicle in any situation. Similarly, at the Campy agency, we have private 22 kW charging stations accessible 24/7 using a badge provided with the van. Charges debited from our account using these cards will be credited to your account upon your return.
